Meet the Staff

Blue Cross Pet Hospital has been committed to providing outstanding veterinary services to the city of San Francisco since the early 1920s! Located just blocks away from the incredibly beautiful Alamo Square Park. The clinic was originally founded by Dr. J Krom and as the city of San Francisco grew so did Blue Cross Pet Hospital. Other noted veterinarians to practice at Blue Cross Pet Hospital over the years were Dr. H Creely, Dr. M. Simmons, Dr. D. Strohauer and Dr. Sherman Wong.

Since 2013, Dr. Wonjae Lee has carried on the strong tradition of practicing excellent veterinary medicine for the pets and families of San Francisco. With a warm caring manner and decades of experience, Dr. Lee will always provide your pet with the highest level of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Wonjae Lee

Veterinarian

Dr. Lee is a licensed California veterinarian with more than 15 years of practice experience. He earned his veterinary degree from Seoul National University in South Korea and continued his studies at Oklahoma State University, School of Veterinary Medicine.

He joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital in 2009 after practicing in several general and emergency hospitals in Michigan, Oregon and the South Bay. He is an active member of the California Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association

His special interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, dermatology, and geriatric care. He prides himself on providing personalized individual care to each of his patients, treating each as his own. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, cycling, playing tennis and spending quality time with his wife, two kids and his cat, Tuaca.

Dr. Guyrry Kim

Veterinarian

Dr. Kim was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She came to the United States when she was 15 years old and went to high school in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Zoology. Afterwards, she attended and graduated from ...

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Kim has a special interest in Internal Medicine, Surgery and Neurology.

Dr. Kim has a Chihuahua named Momo who currently resides in South Korea with her parents. In her spare time, she enjoys board games, playing video games, participating in escape rooms, and traveling.

Dr.Calvin Ho

Veterinarian

Dr.Calvin Ho was born in New York and raised on Long Island. He graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Psychology. Afterwards, he attended and graduated from Cummings School of Veterinary School at Tufts University. Dr.Calvin Ho has a special interest in Internal Medicine and Surgery.

has a cat named Zara who currently resides with him in San Francisco. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, attending trivia nights, and exercising at the gym.

Perla N.

Practice Manager

Perla joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital in 2019 with 2 years of previous veterinary field experience. She graduated magna cum laude from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Communication Studies. She also earned an A.S. in Medical Transcription, a Medical Office Assistant certification, and Medical Billing and Coding certification from Skyline College.

Perla has over a decade of hands-on experience working with parrots, reptiles, and fresh water aquariums. She has always loved animals and has a soft spot in her heart for rescues, especially senior animals. Her rescued pets have been an English budgerigar parakeet, a Meyer's parrot, a veiled chameleon, a crested gecko, a betta fish, and a chinchilla. Perla currently has two cats (Lucy & Leo) and in her free time enjoys reading graphic novels, crafting, painting, and the comforts of home.

Caitlyn P.

Head Veterinary Tech

Caitlyn is a San Francisco native who discovered her passion for animals at an early age. Growing up with the companionship of her 2 Chihuahuas, Mimi and Cowy, and her beloved rooster Mickey, Caitlyn's passion for all animals led her to become a dog walker and dog-sitter after graduating high school.

Caitlyn joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital in 2020 as a receptionist but quickly realized that her desire was to work directly with the patients. Caitlyn was mentored as a veterinary assistant at Blue Cross Pet Hospital and now proudly holds a Veterinary Technician degree from Carrington College. Her dream and next career goal is to become a veterinarian. Beyond her career ambitions, Caitlyn enjoys hitting the gym, savoring moments with her feline companions Maguu and Monroe, exploring culinary delights, hiking, and diving into a good book.

Daisy

Daisy O.

Veterinary Administrative Assistant

Daisy is a San Francisco native who studied at San Francisco City College. She lived in Mexico for a few years where her love for animal health care began. Daisy observed how her two aunts operated their veterinary hospital dedicated to farm animals. They frequently provided

house calls and assisted with the delivery and birth of various animals. Under their guidance, she learned her clinical knowledge, such as vaccine administration and deworming treatments. She also helped her aunts with clerical duties such as processing payments and scheduling appointments. Daisy particularly admired the devotion her family had toward their patients.

Inspired by their devotion, Daisy began volunteering at animal rescues. She particularly enjoyed working with cats. At the rescues, she would socialize cats and help find them their perfect forever home. She has her own cat named Moosh Moosh that she adopted at 6 months old. In her free time, Daisy enjoys long walks, to travel, and to shop. In the near future she wishes to go back to school and learn more about animal behavior.

Veterinary Assistant

Amanda's journey into veterinary care was a natural progression fueled by a lifelong love for animals. Despite studying business, Amanda's heart always gravitated towards our furry friends. Joining Blue Cross Pet Hospital was a deliberate choice, marking the beginning of a fulfilling chapter she has not regretted.

Raised in a home where animals were family, Amanda brings a unique perspective shaped by a lifetime of companionship with various creatures. Currently, her personal family includes a Holland Lop bunny named Jackson Carter.

Beyond the world of veterinary care, Amanda finds joy in exploring new and exciting food places, savoring culinary experiences. Her love for adventure extends to travel, where she enjoys exploring different parts of the world. Amanda's dedication to the well-being of pets is matched by her passion for discovering the diverse wonders the world has to offer. Amanda is thrilled to be part of the BCPH team and shares the same commitment to our furry companions at Blue Cross Pet Hospital.

Rebecca N.

Veterinary Assistant

Rebecca is originally from Eureka, California where she first discovered her passion for animal health care. She is currently pursuing this passion at San Francisco State University by completing a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Additionally, she is a volunteer at the SPCA in the Shelter Medicine department, where she specializes in administration of vaccines and other medications.

Rebecca also participates in providing animal physical therapy to shelter animals. Rebecca continues her passion for animal healthcare through her work at Blue Cross Pet Hospital, where she serves as Veterinary Assistant. In the near future, Rebecca hopes to attend Veterinary School and work primarily in shelter medicine or general practice.At home, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her two Australian Shepherd mixes, Meogo and Kota. Outside of animals, Rebecca enjoys gaming, art, and reading.

Ramon H.

Remote Veterinary Administrative Assistant

Ramon’s passion for animals first started when he was a small child. He always wanted to have animals around him whether they were hamsters, birds, rabbits, fish, dogs-- he loved them all! He had a particular fondness for his family’s chickens in Mexico. He was in charge of feeding them and he enjoyed watching them run. Ramon’s first job at 11 years old was walking his neighbors’ rescue dogs, a Shepherd mix and Terrier mix.

Ramon earned his bachelor’s degree in English at San Francisco State University. He later joined the BCPH team in 2021. Ramon is a San Francisco native, but life’s journey has taken him to Southern California. This, however, did not stop him from continuing to be part of the BCPH Team. He continues to be a valuable member of the BCPH team by providing clerical support remotely. During his free time, Ramon enjoys spending quality time with his partner, family, friends, and his 3-year-old French bulldog, Truly.

Sophia V.

Veterinary Assistant.

Sophia was born and raised in Southern California and made the move to the Bay Area in 2017 for college. Sophia's journey led her to San Francisco State University, where she graduated as a biology major with a concentration in zoology. Ever since Sophia was a little girl, her deep love for animals fueled her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

During high school, Sophia began volunteering at a nonprofit animal shelter, where she learned to administer oral medications and worked on enhancing the sociability of the animals, aiming to increase their chances of adoption. At Blue Cross Pet Hospital, Sophia has had the pleasure of meeting numerous furry friends whom she adores and eagerly looks forward to seeing during their appointments. Sophia's future plans involve continuing her studies and attending veterinary school in the coming years, with a particular interest in shelter and wildlife medicine. Outside of work, Sophia enjoys exploring new restaurants, discovering the city, and spending quality time with her wonderful senior cat, Lois, that she adopted when she was 12 years old.

Joana G.

Veterinary Assistant

Joana was born and raised in San Jose, CA. She received a bachelor degree in Biology: concentration in Zoology from San Francisco State University. While pursuing her education she volunteered at the San Jose Animal Care Center where she maintained the animals’ kennels, fed the shelter animals, and gained experience with post-surgery patient care. She later joined a summer intern program at the Wildlife rehabilitation center in Sonoma County. Joana had the pleasure of bottle feeding baby opossums, raccoons, and squirrels.

She also administered subcutaneous fluids, medications, and provided enrichment to the animals. She was exposed to a wide range of animals, such as cows, chickens and foxes, but her favorite were the birds of prey -- especially the owls! Joana not only gained numerous years of experience working with dogs by being a dog owner herself, but by working for a non-profit organization called Operation Freedom Paws in San Martin, CA. At the non-profit she cared for and trained service dogs and had the privilege of walking police dogs. Working with all species of animals is her passion, but her love for dogs has no comparison. In her free time, Joana enjoys going to the beach with her dog, Blanquita, going to cafes, and spending time with friends and family.

Lily Z.

Veterinary Assistant

Lily was born and raised in San Francisco and grew up with 2 Budgerigar (parakeets) named Lemon and Lime. She did not grow up with any cats or dogs in her home. However, through friends, family members, and neighbors she was able to enjoy the presence of cats and dogs. She decided to pursue a career path in the veterinary field and graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science from UC Davis.

Lily joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital to gain experience working with animals and people in a veterinary clinic environment. She has excelled in reception and is now gaining experience as a veterinary assistant. She hopes to become a veterinarian in the future with an interest in specializing in animal nutrition. In her free time, Lily enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and trying out new places to eat. She currently has no pets but would like to adopt a few cats in the future. Cats hold a special place in her heart and she is a firm believer that you can’t just have one cat!

Gaby H.

Veterinary Assistant

Gaby is a San Francisco native who grew up in a household with different types of animals such as dogs, cats, and birds. At one point, her family also owned fish, frogs, and a leopard gecko! Additionally, she admires wildlife with a particular fondness and admiration towards jaguars and black panthers.

Gaby joined BCPH in hopes of gaining experience in the veterinary field. She is an extremely quick learner and is a wonderful asset to the BCPH team. She is eager to continue learning and working closely with cats and dogs. She is excited to have a future career in the veterinary field.In her spare time, Gaby enjoys making jewelry such as earrings, charm bracelets, and keychains. In addition, Gaby creates colorful abstract and scenic paintings. She loves nature and cherishes going on hikes to disconnect from city life. Gaby likes escaping into nature with her two loving goofy fur babies named Gucci & Chanelly, who love to run and get covered in dirt!

Andrea B.

Veterinary Assistant

Andrea is a calm, thoughtful, and empathetic person who has always had an interest in medicine. However, after seeing her own beloved German Shepherd, Ale, go through the progression of life, it reaffirmed her desire to work specifically in veterinary medicine. Andrea is intrigued by the process in which medicine can support an ailing body.

It also warms her heart to watch her patients grow from kittens and puppies to senior pets. Andrea cares deeply for animals and it reflects through her commitment of over 10 years of experience working in veterinary medicine.Andrea currently has two cats, Taquito and Mango. In her spare time Andrea enjoys going on walks, exploring the city for new restaurants, but most importantly creating memories filled with food and laughter with family, friends, and her husband whom she loves with all of her heart.

Liz G.

Veterinary Assistant

Liz started gaining experience as a veterinary assistant in 2021 during her internship with the Carrington College Veterinary Technology Program. During this internship, Liz trained at various facilities throughout the Bay Area. The internship exposed her to multiple departments where she discovered her true passion- surgery. Liz loves the aspects of surgery such as monitoring surgical technique, ensuring patients are stable and comfortable, and observing/learning procedures that better her patients' well-being. Her passion and love for her patients shines brightly and is exemplified by how she provides her patients with detailed attention and care: before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Liz graduated and obtained her Veterinary Technician degree from Carrington College in 2023 concurrently to when she joined Blue Cross Pet Hospital. Liz loves all animals, but her favorite animals are cats. Throughout Liz’s childhood, her aunt always had various cats. So naturally when Liz became an adult, she adopted some of her own. She now owns 8 cats and a dog named Pickles. During her free time Liz enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Needless to say, her favorite activities involve animals, such as visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the California Academy of Science, and various zoos.
